My Eclectic Style – Home Decor

I was working in my studio the other morning when a rainbow from one of my sun catchers caught my eye. It landed upon one of the flower wreath sun catchers I had just completed and was hanging on my wall waiting to be photographed. Gave me a moment of pause and reflection on a couple of treasures I’ve amassed over the past few years.

The flower painting was created by my friend, Dianalynne. I met her through my Etsy shop years ago and we became fast friends. The painting is a keepsake, her friendship is a treasure! She also created and gifted me with the little dreamcatcher on the wall.

Then there’s the “Love” sign which is actually a greeting card my in-laws gave us for one of our wedding anniversaries; I cherish these two and am so blessed to have them in my life. Two of the loveliest people.

And, the decorative metal hanging holds a few more of the special occasion cards I’ve received throughout the years! From my wonderful husband, family, and friends; reminders that I am loved!

The vintage doorknob I found here on the farm in the old milk house; reminding me of the blessings of home and community, for what I have as well as the opportunities that await me.

Of course, the flower sun catcher will be listed in my shop (JudysTreehouseToo.etsy.com) and will someday find its forever home. But today it is a reminder that I am grateful for my creative spirit and the opportunity to meet and interact with people across the USA that I might never have crossed paths with but for my creative journey!

And, this is just a little glimpse of my eclectic style. Each room in our home holds little treasures like the ones I’ve mentioned above filling our space with many memories.

Life is full of little moments and opportunities to count our Blessings. Keep your eyes, heart, and mind open and you will capture little sparks of memories, inspiration, and love.

Fall Harvest 2021

Fall has officially arrived here in Illinois, Midwest USA. And so begins our harvest season. For the next couple of months I’ll be spending time in the tractor seat helping my husband with gathering, storing, moving this year’s crops.

Feeling blessed with the opportunity to help with the family farm and spend time outdoors enjoying the fabulous fall weather, sights, sounds, aromas! Therapy for the soul.

Although my time for actually creating new items will be limited during the next couple of months, tractor time gives me an opportunity to reflect and consider new designs and ideas for future creations.

In the meantime, if you’re looking for that unique, one-of-a-kind piece of elegant casual handmade jewelry or an earthy eclectic curio for your home decor both of my Etsy shops, JudysTreehouse and JudysTreehouseToo will be open. The items in both of my shops have already been created, are ready to ship and will be packaged up and taken to the post office within one to three (post office) business days after purchase.

Inspired by Nature

The world is full of natural beauty. I’m blessed to be living on a small farm in the rural Midwest, USA. We’re situated in a little valley surround by trees and meadows. And, every year I add to my flower and vegetable gardens. It’s an everchanging palette of texture and color. The plants themselves are beauties to behold but add in the bees, bugs, and critters they attract and you can’t help but say, “What a Wonderful World”!

It’s all about the creative journey and the destination. First, finding or creating unique objects to add a touch of intrigue, an idea begins to form and a vision emerges, a search ensues to find the perfect beads or chain to complement the pendant, then everything is laid out to determine the best sequence, you turn on the radio to find some music to enhance the creative mood as you carefully wrap each bead, you might be in a hurry, anxious to see if the completed piece will come out exactly as you had envisioned, but you have to pause, take a breath, and stay in the creative moment. Finally, the beads are wrapped, the wire is patina’d and polished, the pendant is hung, the final results are gorgeous, just as you imagined. Then you put it out there for all to see until it is discovered by that unique person for which it was intended. This is part of the magic of owning a handmade treasure.

I so enjoyed making this set for my friend, Eileen. She created this gorgeous clay pendant! A talented potter I had met through Etsy one year while searching for that perfect Christmas gift. I purchased a few of her gorgeous pottery pieces and from there a budding friendship emerged. Sometimes we just never know what true treasures we may find on any given day.

This set is NFS (not for sale — one of those dreaded signs I sometimes stumble across while antiquing and find that something I so adore…sigh). From the beginning it was meant for her.

Artisan Handmade Jewelry – Limited Edition Necklaces

I have an obsession confession. Sometimes (okay, often) when I’m perusing for unique stones or beads to work into my jewelry creations I come across some pieces that almost make me hyperventilate with that “gotta have this” feeling. Although my habit (okay, my reasoning way of thinking would/should be) is to wait a day or two before purchasing to “make sure” this is truly an “object of my affection” and not a “passing phase” that will fade by the next day, sometimes I just can’t wait. I get nervous thinking that I might miss my window of opportunity if I don’t buy it RIGHT NOW! I’ve even found myself unable to sleep during my self-induced “waiting period” and have jumped out of bed in the middle of the night, vetoing my inner voice that says “wait” and moving forward with a “buy it now” mentality. This results in a momentary sense of peace and the ability to then garner an hour or two of much needed sleep until I start thinking about matching beads.

This is the case with these ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS dalmatian jasper teardrop pendants. First I purchased one, then I purchased a few more. I think I purchased six (maybe a couple more than that) in total, and I REALLY WANT MORE! But, I restrain myself so that I will make just a few limited edition pieces which will make them all the more precious for those discerning few fashion fanatics who strive for individuality.

These short statement necklaces feature natural semi-precious gemstones and stones with each dalmatian jasper pendant supported by a strand of a contrasting yet complementary gemstone beads. Although similar, each necklace is unique in color combination not to mention the eclectic designs created by the natural occurring striations, bands, inclusions, and veins found in each individual stone.

Earthy Rustic Home Decor

I am a rock fanatic! From natural semi-precious gemstones to rocks found along a path or creek I am in awe of each and every beautiful characteristic they exude. If you were to visit my home, in addition to the many gemstones I have for creative purposes you’ll also find rocks of all sizes and shapes here and there throughout my home and yard. Imagine the vibes they create!

While thinking of different ways to display their beauty, I came up with the idea for these gemstone sun catcher chimes. Each one is created by hand and has a primitive style.

Limited Editions – Handmade Jewelry By JudysTreehouse – Petrified Wood Natural Gemstone Statement Necklaces

Absolutely Gorgeous! I can’t really take the credit for these beautiful natural gemstone statement necklaces. After all, it is the beauty of the natural stone that makes them so stunning. I simply enjoyed the process of bringing it all together; the pleasure of “the treasure hunt” in finding these gorgeous petrified wood (agate) pendants, then the quest to find the perfect matching gemstone beads, being in the moment as I wire wrap each bead and polish each beaded link. It is a joyous journey and one I find very meditative. Dare I say good vibes woven into each piece!

Limited edition creations! These necklaces are unique and one-of-a-kind with their earthy natural colors, striations and inclusions. I so adore these pendants that I have a few more ordered and on their way. Each pendant exhibits individual earthy characteristics and each necklace I create will have a different strand of beaded links.

I did have a bit of a challenge photographing these beauties. They are so glossy that my photo lamps were reflecting off of their shiny surface. But, the photos taken in natural light don’t quite display their rich colors.

You’ll appreciate their beauty once you hold them in your hands. They are enchanting!
