Harvest 2016 is moving along. We’ve had a good harvest season and are getting close to having all of our crops out of the field.

Very few rain delays……

Beautiful creations by Mother Nature…….

Practicing our “night moves”

Seeing some friends along the way…..

A little tractor nap time…..for some of us……tractor hog!

A few obstacles to overcome. This is the dreaded hill we have to move up and down in Browning, IL. It is steep. Greg has to drive the combine down it backwards. In the beginning, I would not drive the tractor up or down this hill. Greg would drive it up, I would walk. After we loaded the grain cart, Greg would drive it down, I would walk. After I loaded the trucks, Greg would drive it up, I would walk. You get the gist. After about 10 loads of corn you can see where this would be time consuming for us. But, my ever wonderful husband was patient with me and did not complain. Now, I am happy to say that I faced my fears and with a few trial runs with Greg as my copilot I now drive the tractor up and down this monster hill. Can’t say that I like it but I do it……not only because we should face and conquer our fears…….but because my husband deserves the best I can be for me, for him, and for our family.

A little plugging up on the draper head but nothing this amazing farmer can’t fix…

Corn piling up on the ground outside of ADM Beardstown! Happy to see that farmers everywhere seem to be doing well. A couple of lines at the elevator but they are doing a good job keeping up. Sometimes its hard for us farmers to be patient during harvest…..you never know what the weather might bring or what else might lie around the corner……have to keep running as long as you can to get the crops out.

And so we’re done with beans for this harvest season. A few hundred acres of corn left to go……may the force be with us all 🙂
